Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família!

Jardel Machado Hermes stated correctly in the synopsis that 'For My Family' is ”an essay on contemporary Brazil”. This is in fact, one of the most powerful short experimental movies we’ve seen in a long time. To sum up, citing again from the synopsis, it is about “contemporary Brazil, where politics and the media are related with power and personal interests, corruption and pornography. In the name of family and property, old social hierarchies and patriarchal power are kept alive, during the live transmission of the voting that started the impeachment process of Brazil's democratically elected female president.”

But this short is even more. It is a perfect combination of rage, expressed in the most natural way, with the magic of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s Salo. This short can easily be the music video of a Rage Against the Machine song, based on the social and politic background. And also, can always be compared, based on the deep feelings, with the interchangeable scenes from Pasolini’s masterpiece. The rage, the hideous situations, the poverty, the lies, all of them can be transposed (in today’s time) in a mental image of the two soldiers dancing in the last scene of 120 days of Sodom, dancing to De La Rocha & co.’s Sleep Now in the Fire.

One guy in TV history thought us that: “Everybody lies!”, and as it turns out, it is true. They say it’s for the right reason, and that reason is never the PEOPLE.

After watching 'For My Family', we feel the urge to raise our fist, and leave the Bulls On Parade!

Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família! Para a minha família!
